Liturgy & Worship

Historic St. Patrick’s Catholic Church offers many opportunities for you to get involved.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC)

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are given the great honor of distributing the body and blood of Jesus Christ.  This group is essential for a sacramental faith like that of the Roman Catholic church.  If you believe that you are being called to this ministry,  please mention your interest to any one of the priests.

This ministry is dedicated to God’s living word as proclaimed by the lector. One way to proclaim His Word in Scripture is through the use of structured verse speaking – simple in concept and dynamic in application. By building the reading line by line from the beginning and maintaining a flow of thought to the end, the life contained within a scriptural reading (or any liturgical proclamation) can be enhanced by the lector applying the elements or tools of this structural format.

To become a lector, contact the parish office.  Good strong voices are always appreciated.

Altar Servers

Altar servers have been assisting in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist since the early years of the Church. Altar servers assist the celebrant with the duties of ensuring preparations for the liturgy are successfully carried out and assist the celebrant throughout the celebration of the Mass. At Historic St. Patrick’s servers begin once they reach the 4th grade and may continue in service until they graduate from high school. New servers are trained at least annually. If you are interested or have questions about serving; contact, or have your parents contact the parish office.

Ushers assist people with seating, hospitality and taking up the offering of God’s people. If you would like to become an usher at Historic St. Patrick’s or are interested in learning more about this ministry, please contact the parish office.

Cantors lead congregational music during mass and other celebrations. If you are interested in being a cantor for our masses, please contact Jeff Zwadlo at (309) 830-6761 or the parish office at (309) 829-1355.

Music Ministry

Music Ministers are responsible for playing musical instruments such as piano, organ, woodwind, strings, and brass. If you play an instrument and are interested in sharing this talent with our congregation, please contact Jeff Zwadlo at (309) 830-6761 or the parish office at (309) 829-1355.

Adult Choir

Adult choir, open to high school and older, sings every Sunday at the 8:00am mass September through Pentecost. Come make a joyful noise to the Lord and Savior! Rehearsal for Choir takes place two or three times a month and is held in the choir loft of the church. The ability to read music is beneficial and appreciated, but not required. If interested in joining the Adult Choir, please contact Choir Director Jeff Zwadlo at (309) 830-6761.
